Twelve fairy tales everyone knows, in pictures from the golden age of illustration.
Classic Fairy Tales brings together the best-known stories by Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm in a 144-page hardback. Inside you will find twelve fairy tales, including Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood, in the form in which they have been read aloud for generations. What makes this edition special are the illustrations: colour watercolours and fine line drawings by A. Duncan Carse and Charles Folkard, made in the heyday of the illustrated children's book.
A classic to read together and then simply leave out on the table. Lovely for reading aloud to children, but just as much meant for grown-ups who want to see those old pictures again. This English edition was published by Bloomsbury in the Illustrated Classic Collections series, and with its sturdy binding and colour plates it makes a lovely gift for a birthday or the holidays. Put a pot of warm tea next to it and you have an afternoon in which no one looks at their phone.
