Fourth Wing: all books and editions

In order of release, which is also the order of the story. The Dutch editions have the English title on the cover with a Dutch subtitle underneath, which makes searching confusing. So here are both:

2. Iron Flame, in Dutch Een ijzeren vlam, 800 pages, published 28 February 2024
3. Onyx Storm, in Dutch Door duisternis gesmeed, 704 pages, published 22 January 2025
4. Threshing Day, in Dutch De Verkoring, 240 pages, published 29 September 2026

Threshing Day is fourth in the row, but it isn't book four. It's a collection of stories set in between the novels. If you're starting the series, begin with Fourth Wing.

No. Threshing Day is a collection of thirteen stories, not a continuous romantasy. The publisher even announced the book for a while under the working title Untitled Empyrean (Not book four), precisely to avoid that misunderstanding.

The stories centre on Threshing, the day when cadets at Basgiath War College come face to face with the dragons for the first time and a bond forms, or doesn't. You see familiar characters again from their own point of view, and the dragons get at least as much space as their riders. All three editions contain sixteen full-colour illustrations by Joe Requeza.

The real book four has not been announced yet.

That depends on the language you read in, and whether you collect. All three came out on 29 September 2026, and all three have the same sixteen illustrations.

• Dutch, De Verkoring: hardcover, 240 pages. The translation by Z&K, published at the same time as the rest of the world.
• English, UK special edition: hardcover with silver sprayed edges, 224 pages.
• English, US Limited Deluxe Edition: hardcover with sprayed edges (Wing and Claw edition), in a very limited print run.

Reading the series in Dutch? Then take De Verkoring, with the same illustrations. Collecting the English hardcovers? Then choose the edition that matches the books already on your shelf, because the UK and US covers aren't the same.

The Wing and Claw Collection is the American collector's edition of the first three books: hardcovers with sprayed edges and their own cover design, in a limited print run.

Side by side on the shelf, the spines form one whole. That's why people often buy them as a complete series.

On 6 April 2027. Volume one contains the first half of Fourth Wing, chapters 1 to 22, adapted by Rebecca Yarros herself and drawn entirely in colour.

There will be three versions, and you can pre-order all three from us: a paperback, a hardcover and a deluxe edition. The deluxe edition has a cover with metallic foil, a separate art print of the first kiss between Violet and Xaden, and a slipcase.

The whole series is in our shop at Van Oldenbarneveltstraat 142A in Rotterdam, Dutch and English side by side, so you can compare the editions in real life before you choose. With special editions that really makes a difference: sprayed edges look different in a photo than in your hand.
