Threshing Day comes out on 29 September 2026 and is not book four, but a collection of thirteen stories. This Dutch edition is called De Verkoring, a 240 page hardcover from Z&K with sixteen full-colour illustrations by Joe Requeza.
What is Threshing Day about?
Threshing is de dag waarop cadetten aan het Basgiath Oorlogscollege voor het eerst oog in oog staan met de draken, en er een band ontstaat of juist niet. De dertien verhalen laten die dag zien vanuit de hoofden van personages die je al kent, precies op het moment dat hun leven kantelt. De draken krijgen daarbij minstens zoveel ruimte als hun ruiters.
Is this book 4 of Fourth Wing?
No, and the publisher knew people would think so: for a while the book was announced under the working title Untitled Empyrean (Not book four). Read Fourth Wing, Iron Flame and Onyx Storm first; as a first introduction this collection is less suitable.
