The Bookish Life of Nina Hill

Nina has her life planned down to the last detail, until a family she never knew turns up.

In The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman you meet Nina, who works in a bookshop in Los Angeles and fills her evenings with pub quizzes, lists and her cat Phil. Everything is neatly in her planner, and that suits her just fine. Then it turns out that the father she never met has died, leaving her an entire family who live just a few streets away. As if that weren't enough, Tom, her biggest rival on quiz nights, turns out to be surprisingly charming.

A warm feel-good novel for anyone who buys too many books themselves and feels at home with stories about introverted heroines who carefully make their world a little bigger. The humour is dry, the pace light, and there are jokes only readers will get. This English edition is a paperback and is perfect if you enjoyed Beth O'Leary or Marian Keyes. Add a pot of black tea and your afternoon is sorted.
