The Hurricane Wars

Talasyn has known nothing but war, until she discovers that the light in her hands is truly hers.

The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon opens a romantasy trilogy set in a world built on Southeast Asian and especially Filipino mythology. Talasyn fights with the Sardovian Allfold against the Kesathese Night Empire, in a war that has raged for twenty years. On the battlefield she comes face to face with Crown Prince Alaric Ossinast, and there it turns out that her light magic and his shadow magic respond to each other. What neither of them wants to admit: they need each other if they want to stop something far worse.

For readers of A Court of Thorns and Roses and From Blood and Ash who fall for enemies to lovers and a forced alliance, with sparks in almost every scene. Guanzon writes her world warmly and vividly, with palaces, storms and politics that really matter. An English paperback and the first book in the trilogy.
