What is De held van weleer about?

Vin and Elend have barely recovered from the events at the Well of Ascension when a new danger threatens the Final Empire. Vin's suspicion that something lurks in the mists is confirmed when the Deepness manifests itself. And this evil is not so easily defeated... To restore peace to the Final Empire, Vin had to defeat the Lord Ruler, but that turned out differently than she expected. And now the Deepness is back too, the deadly form of the ever-present mists. Heavier ashfalls and stronger earthquakes than ever before are a true plague. Humanity seems doomed... Vin's beloved, Elend Venture, barely survived the attack at the Well of Ascension and, now that he has discovered his Mistborn power, is searching for clues left by the Lord Ruler so that he can save the world. His search is not exactly going smoothly. Meanwhile Vin feels so guilty about letting the destructive and mystical power escape from the Well that she has lost the courage to fight back. Especially when it turns out that the power can warp reality and so destroy the world in the snap of a finger.
