What is De tuinen van Dorr about?

'De tuinen van Dorr' is the pinnacle of fairy tales as only master storyteller Paul Biegel could write them, full of secrets, magic and adventure. And it is richly illustrated by none other than Charlotte Dematons, who captures the Biegel atmosphere like no one else.

Princess Mijnewel and gardener Jouweniet are hopelessly in love, but their love is thwarted by the wicked witch Sirdis. She curses Jouweniet and turns him into a special flower. Only if Mijnewel plants the seed from that flower in the gardens of the grey city of Dorr will he come back to her. She sets off on a long journey to save her beloved. A splendid classic and an enchanting fairy tale to read aloud or read alone.

Paul Biegel is the master storyteller of the Low Countries and one of the most beloved voices in Dutch children's literature. His work earned him, among other awards, four Zilveren Griffels and two Gouden Griffels. Charlotte Dematons' atmospheric illustrations make 'De tuinen van Dorr' a timeless classic that belongs on every children's bookshelf.

You can read 'De tuinen van Dorr' aloud from age 8, and children can read it alone from about age 11.
