What is Hotel Zweefkees about?

An enchanting, musical children's book like nothing you have read before! Kalani grew up in a hotel, and not just any hotel: Hotel Zweefkees, which buzzes with music and performances and flies its guests to the most extraordinary places. When disaster strikes, Kalani has to prove he is a good hotelier. Within two months he has to fly Zweefkees to the Land of the Sorceresses, or the special hotel will turn into a perfectly ordinary, lifeless building. With his best friends Essie and Sim, and the old helper Norma, he sets off. The journey is far from safe and takes them past swamp witches, dragons, wood elves and wicked fairies, giants, dwarves and crooked stump creatures, to name just a few of the beings Kalani and his friends encounter. Will Kalani manage to save the hotel? And will he discover what it really takes to be a good hotelier? Kelly van Kempen has written a fairy-tale adventure that will make you laugh out loud, shiver and swallow hard, and that won't let you go. With her stunning illustrations, Marieke Nelissen has created a world that is both detailed and dreamy, fragile and grand. And Kelvin Allison composed the swinging, captivating, sparkling and moving music for the many songs in the book, which you can listen to via QR codes in the book.
